Purpose of the role
The Membership Coordinator plays a vital part in bringing that community to life. You will help welcome new members to the SHINE platform, keep the community active and well organised, and ensure members feel informed, valued and engaged throughout the year. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships and community online, and who wants to contribute to a growing, purpose-led organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Welcome new members to the SHINE platform, guiding them through set-up and introducing them to the community.
- Monitor the SHINE platform regularly, responding to member queries and posts in a warm, timely manner.
- Help plan and post engaging content to encourage discussion, connection and participation among members.
- Keep membership records accurate and up to date, including tracking renewals and new sign-ups.
- Support the promotion of member benefits, events and opportunities across the platform.
- Identify and gently follow up with members who have become less active, helping re-engage them.
- Flag technical issues, spam or inappropriate content to the wider team promptly.
- Gather member feedback and share insights with the team to help shape and improve the membership offer.
- Support occasional online events for members, such as welcome calls or networking sessions.
What we’re looking for
- A warm, approachable communicator who enjoys connecting with people online.
- Comfortable using online community or membership platforms (training and support provided).
- Well organised, with good attention to detail when maintaining records.
- Reliable and able to commit a consistent couple of hours each week.
- A genuine interest in, and enthusiasm for, the mission of Shine Together CIC and The Women’s Awards.
- Previous experience in community management, membership, customer service or volunteering is helpful, but not essential — we welcome applicants who are keen to learn.
What you’ll gain
- The chance to be part of a milestone 10th anniversary year for The Women’s Awards.
- Experience in community and membership coordination, useful for future roles or portfolios.
- Connection to an inspiring network of women achievers, leaders and advocates.
- Flexible, remote volunteering that fits around other commitments.
- Ongoing support and guidance from the founder and wider team.
